Happy New Year to all

2012 may not have been the best, but there is always hope that 2013 will be better for us all on a lot of levels! Here's wishing you a lot health, wealth, stitching time and happiness for the coming year!

2012 has not been a good year ....

For me, this has not been the best year in the world and I hope 2013 looks up on a lot of levels. Classes have been pretty good and with the class this spring I'll have 146 out of the 150 hours I need to take the CPA. I'm going to try to set that up quickly. I figure if I could do it right either October 2013 or April 2014 will be when I take that test. These classes have just kicked my stitching time down along with spending too much time on Facebook. I apologize to all of you who have been following me expecting to see a lot of pictures. Hopefully that will change quickly. I have several projects near close to finish ( at least 3/4 done) so that will be where I plan to start for 2013. Happy Holidays to all of you! ( for whichever holiday you do celebrate in the next few days to week)

WIPocalpse August #2

No pictures but I have picked up the needle a few times...most recent for a friend's project. I am in the middle of classes but I'm trying to pick up the needle again in the midst of job hunting and a few other things.

Sorry I haven't been around

Life after February or March got way out of whack and it has taken this long to get back in somewhat a state of balance. I haven't picked up a needle since about mid March. I plan to pick it up again here over the next couple of weeks and over the olympics. I'll probably do a few sprints since I have a couple that are close and then I plan to pull out a big piece I think and go back and frog it because I'm off just like 5 stitches but I can't fudge it to make it work. It is a huge piece that I plan to give away to my parents but I might stitch it again myself because I like it so much and I have a similar piece that matches out that I plan to do. Anyway no pics since I haven't touched it but will get ones in a bit once I add more.

April Check in

Well a month has gone by and I haven't had the chance to really pick-up a needle. I have been reading fan fics, classwork and dealing with getting a new job and other family life so the March check in is where I stand right now. I hope to try to pick up a needle again soon, but this class is requiring a lot of time reading, posting and projects.

Anyway...see you all soon!

March WIPoclypse check in

Sorry about these photos being sideways...they are saved right side up on my hard drive so I don't get why it is doing this.

I had maybe 2 hours after last check in from IHSW due to online class and family stuff on top of the usual work etc.

I hope to get a few finishes before the April check in.

IHSW weekend update

I'm about to head off to bed but decided to post my update pic first. I probably spent a total of 8 or 9 hours over the weekend in total on it

The previous leave off point is in my WIPocalypse check in post but linked here

IHSW weekend

I can't wait until tomorrow is IHSW weekend and I don't have a lot going on other than school work. Check for my previous posts on the subject here and also the crab on my sidebar. I am looking forward to chill out and stitch with maybe a finish or 2...or maybe a start or more progress. I just don't know which way I'm going with it but it will be nice to relax!

February WIPocalypse sign in

I have had a busy few days so I couldn't put this in on exact day. Class has gotten going fast and furious so not much stitching in the past few days to a week. Also my birthday and my father's birthdays have happened in the past few days so we did a few special things this weekend. is L*K ABC Christmas...close but not down to the white yet. Also since like the 9th...I started another kind of quick project for my kiddo as she's a HUGE Dr. Who fan.

Here are the pics!

Well that was too short of a weekend..

I had all of the intentions of getting more stitching in; but between my computer gaming hobby, schoolwork and just family obligations, they all conspired to keep me away from stitching more. We also have had only a week with our new furry member in our house(our new gerbil Khaki) and making sure he's happy and satisfied entailed a pet store run for chew toys as well. Hopefully the routine will be calmed down for the next hermit weekend though that is either the weekend of my birthday or the next one after it.

Anyway after roughly 2.5 hours over the weekend and another 2 during our CSC stitchathon during the week; here's the latest update of L*K ABC Christmas. Hopefully by the full moon Wipocalypse check in for February, this will be done or just some white stitches left.

I've joined up another kind of challenge....I needed a boost and jump after not being able or having time to stitch in the past couple of years. This one is the International Hermit and Stitch weekend. ( see the button on my sidebar). This one is from a gal by the handle/name of Joysze. Here's her blog location

Here's the basics for this one:

her·mit (noun)
1. a person who has withdrawn to a solitary place for a life of religious seclusion.
2. any person living in seclusion; recluse.
3. Zoology: an animal of solitary habits. (ex. hermit crab)
4. Ornithology: any of numerous hummingbirds of the genera Glaucis and Phaethornis.
5. a spiced molasses cookie often containing raisins or nuts.
6. a person, who for one weekend a month, puts aside time to stitch in seclusion, with the knowledge that elsewhere in the world, others are doing the same.

Ok… So I added #6. LOL!!!

International Hermit and Stitch Weekend takes place every 3rd weekend of each month. In our very busy and hectic lives, IHSW is a chance for us to squirrel some time away for ourselves and "Hermit and Stitch." It is a time set aside to take care of us and our love for stitching.

Imagine this scenario:
You, in your favorite stitching spot, cuddled up with your current WIP or a new start, with some music or tv in the background, stitching to your heart’s content, with nary a care in the world. You feel the excitement bloom as single color stitches begin to take the shape of a leaf, a flower petal, the folds of a skirt, the wing of a butterfly, the ear of an ox … (LOL!!!)

The rules are simple:

1. A sign up list will be posted on this blog at the beginning of each IHSW week. Please ensure that your blog address is correct when you sign up as this is the link that will lead other stitchers there.

2. Because of international time zones, the weekend is loosely set to start on your Friday and end on your Sunday night.

3. You can stitch as much or as little as your time permits, on whatever you like, and however you like.

4. You can stitch as many different projects as you like.

5. Post pictures of your weekend on your blog the following Monday (or Tuesday).

6. The sign up list will be in a new post on my blog on the Monday (Eastern Standard Time) following each IHSW weekend.

7. Visit each other's blogs and if you're so inclined, leave a comment. These are always appreciated.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Is there a set amount of time I have to stitch to take part?
No. You can stitch as little or as much as you want.

Do I have to kick my husband and kids out of the house?
No... unless you want to. In that case, you can tell them it’s part of the IHSW rules. Just don’t give them my email address. ;)

I'm not sure if I'll be able to stitch much, if at all, this weekend. Should I sign up?
A resounding "YES!!" Even if you only get a few stitches in, that's a few stitches closer to your finish. Furthermore, it gives other stitchers and new hermitters a chance to check out your blog. :)

Can I invite other people to join IHSW?
Of course! The more the merrier. :D It would be great if you'd like to promote this on your blogs. Just direct them back to sign up post for each respective month. Also, feel free to display the IHSW button on your blogs. Just copy and paste the HTML located on the sidebar.

Does joining IHSW mean I can't blog that weekend?
No. By all means, blog as much or as little as you'd like. If you blogged over the weekend, it just means that fellow hermitters and other visitors will have more to read, and that's always a good thing. :)

Doesn't the word "hermit" mean solidarity? How can we all hermit at the same time?
In essence, we are hermitting alone, since we do not have the physical company of another stitcher. ;)

What if I don't have a blog? Can I still join?
Of course you can. Just be sure to include link to your WIPs. Of course, we'd love for you to start a blog... it makes stalking following you that much easier.

Do I need to stay in all weekend?
No, you don't. In fact, if you had to go out every day of the weekend, that's ok too. Cos when you're home, you'll be hermitting and stitching. ;)

I have homework and a few other things going on for the weekend but plan to spend some time at least stitching, especially since Saturday morning is supposed to be bad.

I hope to get my L*K ABC Christmas close to being done if not done...probably just the white stuff filled in on all the letters. We will see though, lot depends on the amount of time I get to stitch

Wipocalypse - January Full moon post

After the weekend and about 4-9 hours over that time..mostly interupted; here is the progress made on L*K ABC Christmas. I am starting an online class to upgrade my skills for my career to get better employment in the next week so time may be limited for the next 8 weeks. I'd like to get this done and go work on the 2 other projects on my list and I have several other "Christmasy" pieces and such that are maybe making a calling to me.

Anyway without further adieu......

1/9/12 update of L*K Christmas

The second picture attached is the 1/7/12 start point picture for reference

1st project start point

This is where I'm picking up L*K ABC Christmas after stitching a bunch right before the new year. I hope this will be done by the end of the month in between working (temp now and hopefully permanent soon) and my 8 week online class starting soon ( next week). Sorry the pattern picture is so blurry but if you really are curious go to your favorite online shop and look it up.

Happy New Year!

I'll try to get pics up here shortly in the next day or so. I found another piece that I plan to add to this count down. It is Simply Welcome by Waxing Moon Designs. I had most of the welcome done but the pineapples and the heart and other embellishments to the welcome still need to be done. It should be another piece that shouldn't take too long tho the fabric isn't my favorite.

Anyway Happy New Year and away we go in 2012!
